Houston Mosquito Control & Mosquito Exterminator

The Keys to Effective Houston Mosquito Control and Mosquito Extermination

Houston is a great place to live.  The night life is awesome, the food is to die for, and the economy is one of the strongest in the nation. The weather is warm and on those few days in spring and fall, the climate is one of the best.  The other thing Houston is known for and is the abundance of insects.  I personally believe this is awesome.  Ok so that is coming from a mind of an exterminator, but Houston is known for large cockroaches, fire ants, and the abundance of mosquitoes.

During the Spring and Summer, the mosquitoes can take over a back yard, front yard, and any other place people gather.  They are some of the most common flying insect and lives in most parts of the world.  There are over 3,500 types of mosquitoes found around the world.

Some mosquitoes are vectors and carry germs and viruses that are passed on to humans through their bite.  Some of the most common viruses are west nile, chikunguna, dengue, and malaria.  Controlling mosquitos and protecting yourself against their bit is very essential in the Houston area

Interesting Facts About Mosquitos

  • Adult mosquitoes live indoors and outdoors.

  • Mosquitoes can bite day and night.

  • Adult mosquitoes live for about 2 to 4 weeks depending on the species, humidity, temperature, and other factors.  Female mosquitoes often live longer than make mosquitoes.

  • Mosquitoes get infected with germs, such as viruses and parasites, when the bite infected people and animals.

Most all mosquitos’ haves the same type of life cycle.  They lay eggs, the egg hatches into larva, the larva becomes a pupa then an adult mosquito emerges from the pupa.  This life cycle takes about 7-10 days to complete.

Mosquitoes will lay their eggs in many different places. Some will lay their eggs singly on a surface of water, other lay several eggs on things like rafts that float on water.  They will also lay their eggs on moist ground or containers that are above the water line.  Because of this, controlling mosquitoes can be a very difficult process.

Removing all standing water around your home, keeping grass and bushes trimmed back, and cleaning out debris from gutters are a few ways to help control these germ caring insects.  Other ways to control them involve chemical fogging your property or installing a more permanent mosquito misting systems. The systems are awesome because they kill mosquitoes when they are at their most active, at dusk and at dawn.
